To tutor and coach repeat takers and out of state attorneys in their preparation for the California Bar Exam by providing individualized services uniquely tailored and designed for each student to enhance their strengths, address their weaknesses, and motivate and encourage their best performance.

We want to be your "personal bar exam coach", and believe each student is unique and will benefit from individualized, one-on-one tutoring and coaching. We work together in-person, on-line, and over the telephone. Our goal is to maximize your probability of success on the California Bar Exam by coaching you through the detailed preparation process necessary for your success.

California Law Tutor is designed primarily for repeat takers, who must make changes in their preparation and/or strategies and approach in order to succeed the next time around. My mission in working with repeat takers is to enhance your weaknesses, build on your strengths, and teach you the skills, techniques, and strategies necessary for success on the exam. I begin with an analysis of your previous exams, and ask that you provide this information to me as soon as possible. Honest encouragement and motivation, essay exam simulations, and personalized grading and feedback are what repeat takers need to take their performance to the next level and pass the exam.

Practice and repetition are two of the most obvious but sometimes overlooked keys to your success. This is particularly true with respect to the essay and performance test portions of the exam. Many who failed the bar exam know more than enough substantive law but neglect the practice and repetition necessary for success. California Law Tutor will keep you focused on the practice drills and repetition necessary for success.

California Law Tutor teaches specific skills that will increase your ability to learn and then memorize the black letter law tested on the exam, quickly spot the issues being tested, and, in the case of the essay portion of the exam, outline your essays and write them in an organized way that will show the grader you identified the issues, recited the rule statements, applied the facts given, and reasoned to a logical conclusion. Test-taking and time management strategies for handling all parts of the exam are emphasized.

Through practice and repetition, these skills and techniques are consistently reinforced until they become reflexive and second-nature.

Preparing for and taking the California Bar Exam requires your undivided attention and focus. Intellectual, emotional, and physical energies all need to be directed towards maximizing the probability of success on the exam. Yet, as human beings, our daily energy supply is not unlimited. Therefore, external demands must be minimized and not allowed to intrude or interfere with the extensive preparation necessary for success on the exam. This is best accomplished by creating and adhering to a thoughtful daily structure and study approach. At California Law Tutor, we recognize that everyone’s situation is unique. We work together with you to design an individualized program which ensures that your intellectual, emotional, and physical energies are directed towards your goal of passing the exam. Proper rest, proper nutrition, and moderate exercise are emphasized. Creating and adhering to daily and weekly study routines is mandatory. Over the course of our time together, we keep you focused on the program through consistent feedback utilizing in-person meetings, phone, fax, and e-mail communications.
